Removing excess linseed oil from a stock.

A good few years ago, somebody on this forum described using a mixture of diatomaceous earth and some sort of mineral spirit or alcohol to leach out the excessive amount of linseed oil somebody had applied to a rifle stock. I cannot remember the details now, though I did pass them on to a friend who was faced with the very same problem. He said it worked very well for him.

I now know of somebody else who is faced with the same problem, but I cannot ask my old friend for the details of the procedure because he died several years ago.

Is there anyone else here who recall this discussion, or advise me of exactly what to do?

Have you tried using the "Find" tool here? Type in the appropriate words and see if it comes up. Has worked for me for many things in the past. Big Grin

I should have thought of that. Just did so and found more answers than I expected - so I will now go and eat a slice of humble pie!
