jlogan37mark lee express blue ???
ive been experimenting with a bottle of this and always seem to come out with a dark bronzy color that wont get any darker.been testing on mauser floorplates and old barrel stubs so metal is not the prob. any suggestions?

jeffeossotake a finished piece and sit it in boiling water... and another, heat to ~200 degrees with a torch...
if either of those doesn't work, through it out

DeBeeYou are probably boiling out in tap water with minerals and chlorine and flouride...
You need to boil out in distilled water- this is a must if you want the blue black color.
Did you degrease thouroughly? What are you carding with???
I just did an old Reminginton double barrel with this solution last month- turned out great.

jlogan37tried tap, distilled, rainwater, branchwater degreased w/ alcohol,laquer thinner, acetone all pretty much the same results carded with degreased 0000 steel wool,grease free rough cotton rag.no effect.

Bill SovernsIts not the solution. I've blued quite a few complete rifles with it. Always had good results. You might call Mark and talk to him about it. He is always willing to lend a hand.
