Looking for one if it exists - basicaly in the last several years we ahve seen an explosion of WIN pre-64 copies on the market - Dakota, Winchester, CZ, MRC.
Has anyone done an article or a comparison on all of these to see just how close they are to the original?
How they compare amongst themselves?
We hear of gunsmiths using WinM70 as basis for new ultra-custom guns - they put a bunch of time and energy into getting them right and charge (rightfuly so) a pretty penny. Why aren't they using the other "copies"?

The true original is the mauser. The others are just someones idea of a "improved" mauser action. The pre-64 is a very well built action, but is still just a Mauser clone. I`m not knocking any of the mentioned actions, I hold all of them in high reguard, own a couple of them, and want all of `em. Now if I could just get the wife to see my need........

Hey Teal, I don't know of any print articles comparing the various actions but I've found a wealth of information right here on AR. There is a thread somewhere on the Gunsmithing forum that details all of the differences good and bad between the Mauser and the Model 70 clones.
I was at the MRC shop in Kalispell MT a few months back and examined several short mag barrelled actions marked "CZ Model 3".
