I had a custom 8mm Remington built on a Sako AV and I am using a Burris BD 4-16x50. What do you recomend for scope rings?

I don't like the Leupold 30mm ring mounts. I can't get Talley to answer an email since they moved out of Big Wyoming.

Who makes a top quality ring mount for a Sako action? Don't say Sako I will use my puter to head butt you (just joking, I can barely turn the damn thing on).

Though they are a little high for some and not the lightest, I prefer Sako Optilock rings on Sako rifles. They are very strong, won't scratch your scope and can be taken off and return to zero.
I haven't trid them but some guys really seem to like Conetrols.
Talleys also work on heavier recoiling Sako's. Thier new number in North Carolina is 803-854-5700. Tell them the Dent guy said hello........DJ

kokdyer,

I use the Redfield bases, which are very secure (they actually get tighter under recoil. They held up on my 7mmSTW, .338Win.Mag., and .375H&H.

See this URL Redfield mounts for Sako AV

Under no circumstances should use the Millett bases. Mine sheared off during one of my safaris. Mad

If you prefer a sleeker look, Conetrol makes an attractive set-up. See Conetrol

I usually try and buy what DJ likes, but I actually don't like the Optilocks. They only have one screw securing the base to the ring and could easily get out of alignment with each other (the two rings) Now DJ might explain why this is actually a good system, and other than them being higher than I prefer why they really work well as he is pretty darn knowledgeable and has a lot of experience. Having said that---

I do like and have used a lot of Warne rings-- for SAKO dovetails the rings are integral with the bases--no seperate pieces, this is true for both their QD and regular styles. I have also used several sets of Talleys, I think their finish and quality is a little higher than Warne, but I don't like their base system that much, and they are pretty high-- they will allow a 50mm objective with their bases and LOW rings.

I have used one set of Redfields and I like them as well. Talley is producing some new aluminum mounts and I don't know how thos mount to the SAKO dovetails, but Talley stuff is always excellent quality.

Good Luck--Don
