The BDL magazine box is shorter than the ADL box.

as far as I know there are only two different heights. the ADL is taller. Remington went to using shim washers to adjust for different stocks. on every Remington I used to build I used the ADL box and just shortened it for the BDL style bottom metal. just me being paranoid but that little 4/40 screw holding the box in place on the action made me feel a bit better.

Just going off on a tangent here. Back in the day, we used to get the odd ADL in with feed trouble. What we found was that the little tab and screw that held the mag box in would put a bunch of side pressure on the box and cock it to one side or another and cause the cartridges to pop up when coming off one side. The Bubba fix was to simply remove the screw so the mag box could float to the correct location. The correct fix was a large aluminum punch and a 2 ounce ball peen and after the box was installed you just whacked it around a bit which would distort the tab just enough to allow you to get it centered in the mag well.

When I was a kid. I had the stick. I had the rock. And I had the mud puddle. I am as adept with them today, as I was back then. Lets see today's kids say that about their IPods, IPads and XBoxes in 45 years!
