I have a Turk Mauser sitting around that I would like to use for a Custom project. Only the action, that is. Any suggestions? Note: I don't really want a "restoration", not a cheap "Sporterization" or anything like that. Me thinks a 308, nice McM stock, custom barrel, trigger, etc.

I see you used a 98 action. What is the turk, and are there custom parts available for that?

The Turk is a M98 action, but the barrel threads could be small ring, or large ring.

Thanks Major. Should be able to get a custom barrel then? BTW, how do I measure whether it's large or small ring?

Small ring barrels are easy to get, a small ring barrel threads are .980 large ring is 1.10

Remington 700 barrels have enough "meat" that they can be turned and threaded to fit the small ringed Turks. Decent Rem 700 take off barrels are easy to find in lots of calibers and are relatively inexpensive if you are looking to keep the cost down.

I knew something about customizing Turks, but then I saw HIVELOSITY's girly pictures on the wall, and then I read Major Calibers by line, and my feeble old mind got lost
