I'm curious, was thinking the other day, why don't they make semi-auto pistols left side eject? with everything CNC now it wouldn't be any problem. I don't see much advantage to it, was just curious. left handers maybe would find it nice, and I know some guns they way tey throw, if you were doing a weaver stance left handed I could see the brass ejecting left it would be better. Probably not enough demand to make it cost effective...

You need a time machine to go back to the days of cavalry! A lot of early European self-loading pistols were top-eject. Either because that is all they could design or perhaps for use with either hand. The Webley 455 MkI and the Luger PO8 are two examples.

actually its so the villains on TV that shoot their guns sideways have the cases eject straight up instead of landing on their feet

Randall made a mirror image 1911 back in the 80's. Magazines are very hard to find. Frank "I don't know what there is about buffalo that frightens me so.....He looks like he hates you personally. fjold I thought I remembered hearing about left side 1911's at one point. that was what made me think it has been done at least once before, was just curious why not again. are there any lefty handgunners here that could tell me if it would be advantageous or not? why would magazines be different? A couple of the reasons... 1) not enough demand 2) many of the levers can be switched to left side or are ambidextrous 3)Having regularly trained to shoot left handed, I don't think I ever even noticed a case flying out Mike Legistine actu quod scripsi? How do you follow that? I just think us lefties are the most discriminated against people on earth and I shoot right handed cause my right eye is just slightly dominant. DW

Boy, can I get behind that statement! Was in the big Scheels in Reno today. They have 1,000 or more guns-- eight of which were left-handed-- all of them in long-action calibers (in which I have no interest).

Maybe the slot cut into the magazine for the magazine release is on the other side? _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

It isn't done because some have gone out of their way to build ambi levers instead of making the real commitment. You can buy Ambi stuff for almost all pistols. I would bet it would be a good niche market for someone. I would buy one, but then again I buy left handed scissors and left handed pocket knives.
