I have a 1640 Husqvarna that some bubba messed up the stock. The action and barrel bluing is very nice. It is in .270. I am considering a new barrel and stock... I have a 6.5, .270, 7mm mag, 30-06, 9.3x62. The 9.3 isn't drilled and tapped nor bolt handle changed... so I was contemplating another 9.3. and leaving the old war horse alone. I am also thinking about going wild with a .358 Norma Mag - What say you?

Have you considered a 280, std or maybe AI ?

One of my favorite calibers. I had a factory .358 Norma on the 1640 action and it was a nice trim rifle. My current .358 Norma is on a 1903 Springfield action.

358 Norma on a 1640 sounds perfect to me! I've wanted one for a long time, and the 1640 Husqvarna is a great action.

That action is an FN 98, just for I; Sweden never made a 98, feeling that the 96 was good enough for most everything. Including 30-06. When they wanted to use a 98 they bought them from FN.

No 1640/1650 are an improved mauser action by Husqvarna.

Crap you are right; I can never keep the 640s and 1640s and all the other models they used straight. I guess I was thinking of the 640. I have 6 of them....
Ok,, everything I said only applies to the FN action that Husqvarna used; whatever the model is.

The gunsmith Håkan Spuhr (as in Spuhr scope rings)made a nice reshape of his 1650 with an added piece of wood on the top to made it more comfortable with a scope.

The most common action to customise in Sweden are the 1900 Husqvarna.
