I would like to find a pattern stock, for duplication on a duplicator, or detailed stock dimentions/measurements for hand carving a stock from a blank, for an early Jeffery made 404, and/or an Oberndorf Mauser Commercial "Type A"(Standard 98 action length and magazine depth on both stock patterns). I believe the "Type A" stocks for 9.3mm through 10.75mm bore rifles may be slightly more robust. Oberndorf barrels above 9mm bore are thicker, as indicated by factory records presented in Jon Speeds "Mauser Archive". I understand that I may have to pay for the use of a pattern stock or stock dimention plans, prints, or records. Any leads would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984:

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

I have that pattern but is for the standard box depth. Of course, a stock can be made from that and altered to make a new pattern. My pattern is the early type with side panels, which I put on in case someone wanted them and some do, some don't so they are easily planed off.

I'm doing a 10.75x68 using Swift Blackburn 9.3x64 bottom metal.

If you find one send it to me and I will make a couple patterns for the AR group to use. Maybe we should set up a AR Bank for things like loaner patterns and reamers and such. I will donate a pattern or two!

Hmmmm. This big Kennedy box contains over 100
reamers and scores of pilot bushings. Even a 50 BMG set. Not ready to give them up yet but it will not be long.
