The neighbor boy brought me over a rifle that was his grandfathers and wants a stock. I have a nice piece of wood I can use but not sure what size the stock is.
does anyone have one in the back of their safe they could measure?

I have a Stevens Visible Loader in for restoration. I think the stocks would be comparable if not identical. I can make a tracing, including the trigger position, and send it to you. PM me with your address.

I have a Favorite, which is mostly identical to the crackshot that is pictured above the little scout in the above pic. If you want I can take a picture of it with some rulers. (my stock has been modified with a half moon buttplate but you can extrapolate the dimensions.)

I just measured my favorite stock and have marked the length here:


You can print this out and fiddle with the enlargement to get the dimension to work out, then use that as a template. (the length is to the wood line, not to the trigger as it appears on my crude drawing)

Thanks for the offer Let me see what Mike has the tracing may work better.

Not a Steven's but I do have a Meriden Mod.10, which appears identical to yours. Don't know the history but assume Stevens bought the comany or patent???

Anyway... dimentions are as follows;
Frame (top) to nose of comb, +/- 4" This is to about the center of the radius from wrist to top of comb.
Nose of comb to bottom of stock, 2.5"
Frame (bottom) to toe, 13"
Frame (top) to heel, 12"
Height of butt, 4.25"
BTW - dimentions from "frame" are from the squared rear of the frame where it meets the stock NOT from the tang!

A caution! Mine is chambered for .22short and long, NOT LR!!! Hope it helps.

Rowland, Just noticed that your rifle does not appear to have the "tangs" extending from the rear of frame as my Meridan does so maybe it's not the same after all. Perhaps you can draw out the dimentions above and see if it "looks right" just the same. Good luck.
Also, my rifle does have a pronounced crescent butt. The orginal was plastic/bakelite and broken so I made a steel replacemnt. Otherwise it's all orginal to include dimentions.

No it does not have a top or bottom tang just butts up to a lug on the back of the receiver. A very weak design.

Roland, The two - yours and mine - are obviously not the same as I first thought BUT... They are both of the same period and of the same general design.

That being the case I'd think you can use the same dimentions posted above. If I can manage to get around to it I'll take some photos & post them. Good luck.
