I posted on tightening the scope rings to tight and received some response. I got out my torque wrench that starts at 25 inch pounds and tried it to see where my ring screws were. They are obviously at least 25 inch pounds since it registered that easily without moving. Thing is I only used the L shaped allen wrench they come with to tighten them. And to beat it all I fell off a barn last week and broke my wrist. I did not go to the doctor until Monday and found it out. I would not let the Dr. put a cast on it because it would end my hunting season. I can still move it, but it hurts and it is broke right in front of the joint. Anyway I used that hand to tighten the screws because I knew with it hurt that I couldn't put enough pressure on them to damage anything, yet I test them with that one torque wrench and they are at least and over 25 inch pounds. I think some responded I should tighten them about 12 or 15 inch pounds. What do I do now?? Take it apart to see if scope is damaged or what??? I did bore sight it and it worked just as it should as far as the scope adjusting. What do you reccomend I do??? I agree with the previous response. You are way too worried about the wrong things right now. Tell me how you are going to manage moving a deer or larger with a broken wrist? You are not wound too tight inside your skull.

Medical advice and common sense aside for a moment...25 inch pounds on ring screws is ALLOT, especially on 6x48’s. You are going to snap the heads off if you aren’t careful. 10 to 15 inch pounds is PLENTY even for 8x40’s. I’m assuming that your wrench is one of the preset models since torque wrenches (at least all of the ones I have ever used) “start†at zero.
