fla3006Rebore 9x57 Mauser to 9.3 ?
Is there enough meat to rebore a 9mm Mauser to 9.3mm? (Approx .356" to .366") Thanks!

jeffeossoForrest,
too close.. well, it COULD be done, if the grooves where lined up perfectly...
but, a .366 is going to have a .356 or .358 bore and a .366 groove.. which means that there COULD be an overlap...
jim dubell could tell you

fla3006Thanks Jeffe, won a Haenel Mauser at auction, haven't seen the bore yet. (By the way, don't forget my floorplate at the STC shoot!)

sierra2Ohh, 9.5x57mm, good thought! Certainly an easy cartridge to reload, especially with the availability of 9.3x57mm brass and the variety of excellent .375 bullets on the market. Would definitely be the only one on your block.

Alberta CanuckAnd you'll like it as well or better anyway, I believe. I have one on a Ruger No. 1 (9.5x57) that I like to tell folks is a rimless .38-72. Whatever you call it, it is a great little cartridge, short on recoil, long on dropping things dead in their tracks...especially with the lighter .375 bullets such as the 235-grainers .

Marc_StokeldJust curious if you want to rebore because you do not like the 9x57, or is soemthing worng with it?

richjI have a 9x57 too. I haven't slugged the bore yet or tried .35 cal reloads. There aren't many options for rifle bullets in 9mm.

fla3006Rich, my plan is to use 358Win bullets or heavy 357Mag cast lead bullets, depending on the bore. If the bore turns out to be rough, which I don't expect, I'm contemplating rebore/rechamber to 9.3x62 if possible. Do you have loading dies for yours? CH4D is the only option as far as I can tell. Brass shouldn't be a problem (8x57).

I bought a 9x57 off of GB with a set of lyman dies and some boxer cases. I've been shooting up a bunch of Kynoch ammo I bought. It doesn't group very well. It's got a lot of meat in the bore but it's rough.
