Have a chance to pick one up, other than having the sako type extractor done, what caliber would you think? Was thinking of bulding a semi hunt/sniper rig in eith the 338rum or maybe just go with a hunter model in 404,is it do able?

okay, i won't start with WTF (why in this case) would you do a 404 on a remington?

If you wanted a positive extractor in a 404 sized round, pick up a model 70 win, for ~450-500 and rebarrel that 300 RUM to 404... done in 2 hours

jeff, its just one of those things, its available and cheap and it would be just another toy to play with, its just the action so there is nothing else on it to junk
