Bear Claw----

TIG for gunwork doesn't need to be big or powerful. There's no need for a water cooled torches or most of the bells and whistles that're mostly in place for welding aluminum.

You MUST have a varible power switch like a foot pedal to alter power while welding. Snap start or soft start is handy to have but not absolutely neccessary.

It should have at least 150 amps available.....no need for AC capability unless you're doing aluminum.
The Miller Econotig is a great small machine and works well.
Mine is a Hobart HF-250....but it was cheap at an auction. It weighs nearly a thousand pounds.

Bear Claw- I have a Miller Syncrowave 250 with pulser and coolant system. I really like the pulser for fine welding. You can sometimes find these at auctions or from welding shops for about $2000. Mine runs on single phase 240V but you need a minimum 200 amp service. beautiful machine and worth every penny!-Rob

Robgunbuilder, why do you need 200 amp service for a 240 V single phase welder?
