hi
the new husqvarna or CG rifles have the 1/12 inch twist in 3006 . my question is if they always used 1/12 inch twist in their rifles ? and what twist an old husky with M98 action made in mid 50s would have in 3006 caliber.

My Husqvarna is a Smith&Wesson model B.. imported late sixties.. 1 in 12... (30-06).. shoots way better than it should.. the older Hornady reloading book had a list of twist by makers.. and it listed the husky as one-in-twelve.. HTH.. Les

Are you sure your's have 1/10 twist? have you measured it? . did it shoot well with 220 grain bullets?

In answer to the question, will a 1 in 12" shoot 220 gr. bullets well. Yes they will. I have a custom Mauser 30-06 with a 1 in 12" twist barrel and it will keep the Sierra 220 gr. round nose bullets inside an inch. I know the barrel is a 1 in 12" as it was what I specified when I had the rifle built.
I don't hink it will stabilize the few 220 gr. spitzer bullets out there though. Round nosed bullets however, should be just fine.

Well, I used my bore tech cleaning rod a jag and a tight patch. The cleaning rod has a punch mark on the swivel at the handle so I can see a complete twist. Started the rod in the bore from the action side(no bore guide) I marked the rod with a piece of tape at the but plate line for the starting point. I checked it about 10 times. It measured 1 in 9.5" , but 1-10" looks to me what it must be.

Ive only shot 180s and just got some 200gr lapua megas to play with. I love these huskys , it shoots 5 180s into 1" at a 100yds and ive shot 5 rds in 2" at 200 yards.

I havent checked my other m640 06 yet for twist rate. I have 3 early '50s 640s and a 1940 m146 9.3x57 thats a 1-14 twist . Ill check the others later.

Ok I just checked my other m640 30-06 . Serial 147xxx. It is 1- 9.5" twist. No way its 1- 12".

Im supprised it isnt 1-10 but to hit 10" the punch mark turns slitely more than 360 degrees. Exactly 360 degree turn measures 9.5" every time I push the rod in, and the jag is screwed on tight with a tight fitting patch.

1- 9.5" interesting!

Other is 133xxx , both '51-'52 year.

These are Huskys are with the FN mauser m98 large ring action. Ive heard the later 1640s with the Husky 1600 small ring action are 1- 12
