The American Custom Gunmakers Guild show is on the 26th, 27th, & 28th of January, same time as Safari Club. Who's going to be there, and why, .......soley for the Guild Show, or tying it in with SCI?

Every year the question comes up at the board meetings, "Can the Guild Show survive without SCI?". A bit of input from those planning on attending would be useful. Any suggestions to make the show better?

An added highlight for those not in the know is the Friday nite get-together of "The Knights of the Longtooth" down in the Eldorado. This is the opportunity for any newcomers or those interested to drop in and have a drink with some of the gunmakers and engravers and b.s., get to know them and talk shop, ask questions.

Chip, are you coming this year, you missed last year. Since a couple more have passed on, there'll be a couple of mandatory toasts to them.

I'm going to the ACGG Show. I believe there is another thread on this to which several have replied.

Arctic:

My daughter and I go most years, and my wife will be attending this year as well, because my daughter is the awardee for the FEGA beginning engraver's scholarship. We would attend even if SCI were not there, but it's only a 2-1/2 hour drive for us. I suspect that having the ACGG/FEGA show with SCI helps some, but probably not a lot for attendance.

My wife and I are attending both this year for the first time. For us it's a days driving and another day flying each way. Four days of travel and two more nights in hotel. Loud'n'boomer nailed it that seeing both makes the whole proposition more attractive.

Arctic, I am planning on being there. I am not going to have a table but I will find you and we will have a drink and we will get caught up. I imagine you will pull the "I travelled further so you have to buy". At least the first one, lol.

I guess this means I have to stop snivelling about spending the day in airplanes and airports. On the other hand, I do have to drive into Chicago to get the plane and that deserves some sympathy.

Stop when you see the single shot rifles and say hey!

The question should be" can the SCI members survive without the guild"? Let them rich boys buy off the shelfs at Walmart, and I,m sure things would be different! van

At the Vegas show this weekend and got talked into coming to Reno, probably will not go to SCI though .... let my membership lapse as the folks in the NY/NJ/CT region are Ok but most of them actually know and care very little about rifles .... too much talk of grand slams and trophy size for my taste. Will wear my screen name on my tag !!!

I will be at the Guild Show, but not SCI. I also wish they would move the location to different cities every now and then. I propose Sawyer, MN next year!

I just wanted to know who I would be talking to or looking for.

Imagine my surprise if I happened to enjoy talking to someone and finding out it was 22WRF

Kobe knows what I look like. I was standing 2 feet away from him when he looked at my action. And here I was waiting for ol' Kobe to call me up and ask me if I would carpool out with him so as to save him money. I was even going to bring that Magnum Pre-64 action with now that its been all polished up and ready to make a nice custom out of.

Imagine your surprise if that JimmyD223 guy turned out to be that guy that was squirrel hunting all of the time. What was his name again? Jimmyd223's posts sure resemble those of that guy. Was it Maynard or something like that? animal animal

22WRF, I remember that guy too!!! Didn't he use a single shot NEF rifle or something? If I were huntin squirels out here for eatin, I would damn sure starve to death.

Glad you got that action all polished out, why don't you build something on it yourself if it is so pristeen?

Oh, the guys name was Morty, I think can't remember what his wifes name was though. moon

How be when we're getting our badge to ask that they put out "handle" below the name?
Since I'll be early, I can ask Jan and the kids at the front to do this.
