A friend bought a parts rifle that the action is twisted on. Does anyone know of a smith that can straighten it out?

I would say it is near scrap but depending on how far you are willing to go anything is possible.

How is it twisted?? Along the axis of the receiver i assume??

Sounds interesting. I would like to hear the rest of the story.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

I had a Mod 7 that was twisted by trying to take the barrel off with the wrench in the rear bridge. When I got it the scope was still mounted. I put a lasar in it and twisted it until it was bore sighted. It has at least 1000 rounds of 243 through it since and is a .6-.8 shooter. None of the twist or stress was in the front ring.

I am almoct certain that someone tried to unscrew the action with one of those POS action wrenches that fit through the lug raceway with a T handle on the end. Roll Eyes You can twist it the opposite way with the same setup & see how she shoots.

Doug,
Those are actually good wrenches if they are run all the way to the breech of the barrel and engages the front ring.
