I have two Weatherby Vanguards (sub MOA) with 24" barrels that I would really like shortened to 21". What are the consequences to knocking 3" off the length of the barrels?

Probably not much if they are done right. A little more noise and a little less velocity. You may have to find different ammo that matches the harmonics of the newly-shortened barrel. That's all I can think of. "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

If they do a good crown ... You'll lose some velocity ... and the vibration nodes will change. Will likely require retuning the load. Blast and noise will increase! LOTS more noise, and some reduced velocity depending on the caliber. Remember, forgivness is easier to get than permission.
