free_minerM98 striker spring weight
I need (want) to replace the springs in a couple 50 year old FN actions.
According to the Brownells catalog, stock is 19 lbs, and they sell them from 22 to 30 lbs.
Is there any reason to buy a heavier weight than the 22 lb spring ?
Thanks in advance

jeffeossosome of the guys that used to modify the bolt lift (i don't know how they did it) had to use heavier springs due to shortened fall (I THINK)
past 22#, they can get hard to cock/open

ramrod340I have a factory MKX speedlock type bolt as well as one I altered myself. The springs in the old MKX and the ones with the speedlock appear to be the same as I measure. The one I altered was a M98 and it is still using the original spring. I would go with standard or no heavier than 22#
