These things are driving me nuts. They worked fine a few days ago, then I was putting this rifle together and now they won't. I can fire the rifle with the front un-set but it won't go from the set.

There is space around them, not hanging up on anything. I made sure everything is clean, I even put a little oil on sufaces to see if that would help. I should have bought a Kepplinger single-set but I wanted this "look". These are from NECG.

Roger---

You forgot to say how it's not working. How's it failing??

I assume the set trigger sear is operation but all you get is a click?

Who bedded the stock? If the distance is too great between the double set unit and the sear kicker there isn't enough energy left in the rear trigger to trip the primary sear.

Jack,

That must be it. Only thing I can think of. I will pull the spring on the sear and see about using a spare, if it is weaker then it should require less omph! on the part of the kicker. I might sand down the outside of the spring to see how far I can get it down.
There is a very large amount of contact between the cocking piece and the sear too, though they are highly polished it isn't helping.
If nothing lese I will save these for another rifle and later this summer get a Kepplinger.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Roger,
I suspect the problem is in the inletting of the wood, don't mess with the trigger until that is taken care of...sometimes more or less torq on the rear tang screw will give you a clue..These triggers are most always correct from the factory, so do not mess with them...If it is not in the inletting of the action then let an expert fix them is my advise. Jack Belk is very good with double set triggers.

Ray,

I understand completely. I was talking about this to a friend of mine last night. I had made sure there was nothing at all aorund any of the moving parts, levers, kicker ect. I used a brass punch to push down on the sear and there isn't any stickiness at all.
I am going to use some brass tubing and make spacers that will duplicate the distance between the receiver and triggerguard when I get home. I have put off everything since final exams begin Wednesday May 7 for me.
These were set up using the normal length guard screws. The receiver and guard, bedded into this stock are now about 0.25" farther apart. Interestingly, they did work fine while using the stockmakers screw handles, but using the special longer screws, they don't. You may be onto something with the torque issue.
I will look into it and if I cannot see a fix, I will definitely have it corrected by a professional.
Thanks for the advice.
