Threading muzzle on Mini 30
Quick question about threading for suppressor. I have a Mini 30 I want threaded and would like to know if the front sight would have to be removed/relocated? The sight is 1.25” from end of barrel. Pretty sure someone here would know, thanks!

A non over barrel suppressor requires only 1/2" to 9/16" of thread at the muzzle so your front sight would stay. If you used a partial over barrel suppressor, same thread at the muzzle is used but the front sight would have to go to allow a portion of the suppressor to fit back over the barrel.

This is what I needed. My suppressors do not cover the barrel, thanks!

I understood the earlier reply to be the type of suppressor that extends some distance behind the muzzle, mine are in front of the muzzle except for the short threaded section that connects to the rifle, so, yes, I suppose they do cover part of the barrel…just not very much. I’m trying to get a muzzle threaded without front sight removal/reinstall. Done that before with less than satisfactory outcome. Suppressors used on more than one rifle.

Couple of images showing over barrel suppressor mounting. The thread that screws to the muzzle thread is 8" down inside the suppressor and the bush supporting the rear of suppressor on the barrel is sized to match the barrel diameter at the 8" point back from the muzzle.

Of course you could screw on a suppressor that just attached to and sat forward of the muzzle but for centrefires with longer and heavier suppressors, the rifle will be ungainly long and very muzzle heavy. The particular suppressor in the image is a magnum suppressor with an internal stainless steel muzzle brake suitable for the standard or WSM magnums.
