Not a lot of pistol threads here but you guys are more "evolved" and knowledgeable than most of the folks on the tacti-cool forums. Maybe someone here knows 1911s. I needed a decent 45 for CMP competition (bulls eye). Here in California we have stupid laws that ban many great guns, like a new Colt Gold cup.My choices are limited. Nothing used was for sale, I got the Springfield. Unfortunately it has many features I don't want. I DO want a short trigger, arched mainspring housing, grip safety without the "speed bump" and a normal safety. Can I swap out regular generic 1911 parts and have them be usable on this pistol? I expect to, and have the skills to, fit the parts.

I have had no issues fitting aftermarket parts to a Springfield Armory pistol. Parts should interchange relatively easily. Put a Kart barrel and bushing in it and it will shoot with the Gold Cups. Bill Jacobs NRA Endowment Member US Army Veteran CWP Holder Gunsmith
