Winchester 100 questions

What years were the basket weave stocks?
What's a pre64 model 100 worth?
Does it matter if it's refinished?

Last question; definitely.
BUT, there was a safety recall on those and the website might still be active; do not shoot them until you get a new modified firing pin. The old ones can break and bad things happen.

the 100's had a multitude of problems.... the trigger group had issues too... the pins that held it all together would break and it all fell apart... refinished??.. cut the price in half... unique caliber like a .284?? maybe sell for $400,,popular calibers like the 308's and 243's, I see all the time for $6-700, but they never sell,,, the few that do sell will bring less than $400...I've paid way too much for the few I have....

go big or go home ........

Beautiful semi autos that can be great shooters if kept clean (chamber, gas system, and bolt). Also keep the screw behind the trigger guard loctite tight to help prevent jamming. The old firing pins were a problem causing slam fires. Retrofitted guns should be stamped as so. Post 64's come with stamped checkering and pre 64 have cut checkering. Calibers other than 308 or 243 bring premium prices. I see 100's in very good condition bringing $700-800. I use my pre 64 308 on CA pigs and its plenty accurate for 250 yard shots. With TLC they are fun.

Forgot to mention that I had Duncan Gunworks in San Marcos CA do the firing pin retrofit for my Model 100.

I surfed the web looking for recall info but nothing from Winchester comes up. Can you give me a source for the necessary parts, repairs ?

I have a p64 308, I was attempting to disassemble it and forgot to cock it first.

Also came upon a parts gun, 1961. It needs to be reblued. I happen to have a basketweave stock in the parts bin.

This is the number that they sent me on the recall some time back. 800-852-5734

Bobs is advertising the new style for sale if USRA no longer gives them away.

When I was a kid. I had the stick. I had the rock. And I had the mud puddle. I am as adept with them today, as I was back then. Lets see today's kids say that about their IPods, IPads and XBoxes in 45 years!

If Gander Mountain Gunsmithing still answers the phone, they USED to know the source for parts and repair...don't believe Winchester claims parentage anymore.

Personally would not take one as a gift

Well Duane, you probably have the same problem that Billy Leeper has with Savages. You're wearing a bag over your head so that no one will recognize you shooting a Winchester 100 at the range. You probably have the eye holes cut too small and it's impeding your vision and that's why you can't hit anything with them. Try making the holes a bit bigger. he he

coffee Just sayin.
