About a year ago I found this nice 7x57 Oberndorf Mauser. It had old claw mount bases but the scope was missing. After looking into having claw rings made I was disappointed to find out that once a claw mount scope was fitted you were pretty much stuck with that scope and ring size. Since I liked the Leupold QR mounts I called Jim at Delta Gun shop to see what he could do custom. My only requirement was the desire to have them high enough to clear the original bolt handle. Now, I know they look a little high, but I love it! And the kicker to this whole project was revealed to me this morning when I took it out to test fire.

Check out the pics.

Jim did the metal work on my custom rifle and I cannot say enough about his work and just being a great gunsmith to deal with. Polite and came up with a few ideas about my action to make it even better.

P.S. excellent rifle. Great job keeping the original bolt handle.
