Hi, maybe someone can help me.
My 30-06 stock has an old fisure (very little) where the action ends in the upper part of the stock, till today nothing happends but it's something to worry about??
To avoid more punishment during recoil in that part I take it to the smith and have it bedded with some strong (?) material and also two bedding pillars for the screws that hold the action to the stock. He told me not to worry anymore....but just in case, what can I use to close that fisure, some kind of glue?
The rifle is EXTREMELY accurate so I want to preserve it.

To give you a better idea is where double rifles have the safety, I think the old rugers have it in the same place also.
The fisure is exactly where the end of the action touches the wood, just behind the bolt shroud.

I think that you are talking about what they call the tang, I have a sporterized 03a3 with a piece that was cracked in the same spot, glued back in by whoever did it, I think it must have happened when they were fitting it to the action. I have my 06 ackley improved and it kicks real good for a non-magnum gun, my should can't tell the difference between it and my .264winmag. I have had no problem at all with the crack there.

Mine's also is a sporterized springfield in 30-06.
That's the place were the crack is, in the tang. I 'll close it with some kind of epoxy to prevent water going in and expanding the wood in that place.
My rifle isn't very pretty but it's incredible accurate
