I just can't ge used to the trigger pull on my m96 swede. What is the best replacement trigger? I've been looking at Bold and Timney. Are these simple enough to install myself?

Absolutely!
At least if you can drift out a small pin, then put it back in again. Oh yeah, you have to be able to use an allen wrench, too! ;^)
FWIW, I just picked up a Timney for a 96. After playing with it some, I sorta wish I'd gotten the Bold with the safety. It solves two problems at once. 'Course now, I've gotta order a Timney safety! $$$$$ Sheesh.

It's the little things that matter.

You can do a trigger job:
1) force;
a) Remove trigger spring and shorten or replace with ball point pen spring or some other spring of lower force with a higher spring index ratio [ratio of coil diameter to wire diameter].
b) Grind on rear hump of trigger to change the leverage prying against the bottom of the receiver.
2) Over travel;
a) Grind a fat piece of nail and put it inside the trigger spring. When it is the right length the trigger can be pulled just far enough for bolt release.
b) Drill and tap into the trigger spring cowling and install a screw to adjust over travel.
3) Take up;
Mill into the trigger to make a notch to Silver Solder a piece of steel. Drill and tap the piece of steel and install an over travel adjustment screw and lock nut.

You can do a trigger job on a Mauser that costs nothing and gets you down to ~2 pounds and works well.

Or you can pay the $40, get a Bold trigger, break the yellow thread locker, and adjust the trigger to less than 3 pounds. If you are worth $100/hour, I would buy the trigger. If you are worth $15/hour, I would go for the trigger job.

I bought a timney , then a Bold,

The bold works beter.

There is a issue when extracting the bolt more so with the timney and catching on the sear

My attitude is that the trigger safety's are not as good. Not as safe, and not as fast, and require cutting into the stock.
