seafire/B17GParkerizing on Rifles...
How spendy would it be to have a barrel and action Parkerized? In ratio to blued?
Durability compared to plain old bluing? and then matte bead blasting?
If a new barrel is coming in chromemoly, can it be Parkerized without being blued?
clueless in oregon...at least on this subject...
thanks for the responses!
cheers

NitromanYou can park an FN-FAL for $150.00 so it should be less expensive for a simple bolt gun.
I think it would look industrial, very cool. Durability would be more, I think, due to the hardness of the park and its ability to soak up oil from its porousness. The matte effect is less reflective.
I love the way it looks on my Mossy 590A1 and my FAL's.

tiggertateNever tried it but I remember a thread a while back where it was said that if you parkerize a gun and then drop it in a hot blue tank, you get a cool looking black finish that is hell-for-tough. I would think just dropping it in a hot blue tank after the parkerizing shouldn't cost a great deal of additional money.

jeffeossoIf both tanks are already hot, probably not much more...
Harry,
we need to talk about that double finish!
