The Farrell steel base adds a lot of weight. It's too high as well for the rifle I had it on. Weaver and Badger make one piece bases.

Warne made them, don't know if they still do. Brownells had them on sale a while back so I bought a few for 700 LA. Part # 4974.Must be used with Warne Premier style rings which they still do make.

Weaver makes them, Midway or Midsouth seems to have the best price on them.
