What twist rate would be the recommended rate for 140-175 gr. bullets in the 7 X 57? Rates run 8, 9, 10. For those of you who shoot the 7 X 57, what is the twist in your rifle, would you change it if you could, what were the gunsmith recommendations? Inquiring minds need to know! Thank you, Arthur Olds

I have a 9 in my 7x57 and 9.5 in my 280. Unless you are going to make a life of real long bullets in a 175+ a 9 should be fine.

As usual just my $.02

1 in 9 seems to work with most all of them. Always seems better to go faster twist than slower if not sure IMO.

I chose a 9" twist for mine for mainstay 160gn bullets but it also shoots the 120gn GS Customs exceptionally well. Use has verrified thos was the best choice and I certainly wouldn't change.
With the trend to less cup and core traditional lead bullets to the longer for weight monolithic or composite bullets becoming more widespread, a 1 in 9" barrel will shoot the wider range of bullets with excellent results.
