I see where others are doing what I plan: Changing my Ruger Safari rifle (.458 Lott) base and ring set up to a Quick Release system. Others have stated that Brownell's no longer makes replacement levers and, from what I can tell, a good way to go is the Warne system. Anyone out there have experience or recommendations for this? Of course, the idea is to quickly remove the scope and reattach maintaining zero. Many thanks -

I use many QD Warne rings; they are great. The old Kimbers are no longer made. Not sure what you mean by base though; Rugers don't use separate bases.

I expect he's got a #1 dpcd.

Actually now that I think of it, Warne does make QD rings for the M77 too.

When I was a kid. I had the stick. I had the rock. And I had the mud puddle. I am as adept with them today, as I was back then. Lets see today's kids say that about their IPods, IPads and XBoxes in 45 years!

My favorite are the old Len Brownells. very much like a Talley except the machine work and checkering is better and the bases are much lower..Hard to find them but I buy every set I see for sale.

Thanks. I ordered a set of Warne's and they seem to be well made. I got the low rings but they still lift the scope center crosshair up 2" over the bore of the rifle. Not much cheek weld... I suppose this is about as good as I can hope for. Now to find the right scope... Thanks again - m

I used the Alaskan Arms quick detachable on my Ruger RSM 416 Rigby. I like them very much. I believe they come low, medium and high.
