I went to take the action of my VZ-24 out of the stock just to look it over and learn a thing or 2 before i take it to my smith to begin building a custom. The for arm screw came out fine but the trigger guard screw is playing hell to remove. Thats never happend to me before . Any ideas on a way to loosen it a little? I have a screww driver that fits it real well...tj3006 freedom1st

I had the same problem with one of the action screws in a M77 Ruger. I had to use an impact driver to get it started and then it came right out with a screwdriver. Dennis Life member NRA

Military Mausers had locking screws presumably to prevent the action screws from shooting loose. They are not needed on a sporting rifle, and if the military bottom metal is retained, the locking screw holes are often welded up.
