Recognize these threads?

I know, I know.... no measurements....

But, I was hoping someone could just look at the picture and say 'Yep, it's a XXXX'

I bought it off the classifieds here a while back, but now I forget what it was cut for.

Anyone got the quick and easy for it? Square breach, no extractor cut, no bolt rebate (like on a Rem700).

Get yourself a ruler & measure the threads per inch. Mausers are 12 Remington 700s & ruger 77 is 16 winchester M70 is 16 also but smaller diameter.

I know that you said it won't spin on a M98. But Mausers tend to vary.

Looking at the bluing in the breech I would guess it came off a Mauser variant with an H-ring(not C-ring) which meas that is came off a commercial action.

Based on the bluing and H-ring I'm guessing Mark-X.

The very narrow shoulder tells me it is a barrel designed to torque on an inner shoulder which suggests Mauser. The flat breech w/no cuts points to Mauser. 7 threads on the shank also point to Mauser. Won't screw in a 98 action may mean it is for a larger action or the threads weren't completed cut and just need to be chased. Threads could be buggered. There is no measurement, but I will say it is for a 98 Mauser. Could be a standard 98 large ring or a magnum 98 large ring.

Thanks Guys,
It's marked by the gunmaker and chambering (458 Win Mag) in the area that you'd normally expect to see it, and then underneath it is marked:

I wonder if this is a date code, which would be consistent with the gunmakers marking. If I can use it on that Banner Mauser action of mine, it'd make a neat rifle!

Stokes, you're holding out on us. What are the markings on the barrel?

If that date code is correct I'm going to take a WAG and say that it is a Flaigs barrel off an FN.
