Starting to see new rifles again on the market. Is anyone just selling the actions?

Don't know. In the past you were $$ ahead buying the rifle and selling off unwanted parts. That said having both recent Zastava's and older MKXs I would simply buy an early MKX. I prefer the MKX action and the early in the bow release hands down over the recent actions. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

We have (the Lefty Board here) a group buy going on right now from K-Var and the guns are supposed to be in this month. They would only order complete guns at this time. Don't know why anyone buys Mark Xs at all with all the second hand commercial FNs available on GB, AA, etc. at similar or even lower prices. FN-Supreme-270 NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. Shoot & hunt with vintage classics.

But they say Sear, Higgins etc. I happen to own more MKXs but then again I stocked up back in the 70s at $100 a piece. That said I agree there are plenty of FNs on the market if I was looking I would consider each. I happen to hate the cross pin release on the new Zastava's. Only reason I would consider one is I happend to be left handed. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

To each his own. I love the cross pin, and am growing more and more to strongly dislike the in-thebow. A cross pin won't release at the wrong time due to a weakened latch spring or a trigger finger hitting the latch under recoil. Truth is, I consider all floorplate releases an aid to car hunting. I know a lot of hunters who tape up the floorplate on serious hunting guns to avoid a problem. I would never try to load through the floorplate while under hunting pressure due to the possibility of stacking them wrong.

Art, Just think how boring it would be if we all wanted exactly the same rifle. I do have a couple heavy recoil MKX that I have filed down the exposed knob in the bow like a 1909. I felt my finger hitting the lever was more an issue than the spring tension. As to the cross pin it might simply be I hate the lines of the stock. So when I use the cross pin I file off the top 1/4 or so so I don't have to cut a groove in the stock. The other side is smaller and doesn't require much if any removal. Nor would I. Does anybody even do this?! I always considered that the floorplate was for unloading only... Ramrod, I like your treatment of the cross pin. I don't own any with a cross pin release, but I wouldn't hesitate to consider one now because I would do the same thing. It looks like a perfectly practical system, my only previous complaint has been the clearance cut in the stock I had seen on rifles using them.
