CORRECTION TO LENGTH OF CASE....From what I've read there are two cartridges at present...a 223 and a 243. The case length is 1.670" and they are simply cut-down 300WSMs so they have the same case head as the parent cartridge. By way of comparison, the regular 300WSM case is 2.100" long and a 22/250 case is 1.912" long.

This case design is exciting for 1000 yard benchrest shooters. It should have a bit less capacity than the 284 case, I hope, and be great as a 6.5 caliber. Feeding is not a concern for 1k BR or for extreme range varminting. Now we wait for Norma or Lapua to make brass.......

I am contemplating new 6.5 based on this cartrige, I have an extra bolt for my XP-100 switch barrel and think this maybe just made for this short action. It's only in the planning stages at this time and would appreciate any ones Ideas concerning case volume to bore, shoulder angles, twist etc.

I made a .300 WSM on a 700 SA but didn't go the Sako extractor route, I just opened the bolt snout and installed a Rem mag. extractor. Works fine and still have the "3 rings of steel". I'd wait until after the SHOT Show in January '03 before I ordered a reamer. Things are not firm until they have a SAAMI standard chamber drawing. A lot of confusion was in the air on the Ultramag before it was "standardized".
