Need some ACTION advice
Howdy everyone! Hopefully some knowledgeable fellow will be willing to shed some light on the topic of actions. I'm looking at BAT, Nesika Bay, Hall, and Geske actions. Would like to read some pros and cons. The relevant part: this is to be fitted for a 338-378 WBY for LONG range work--would like to know which action is the best, and why. Thanks!

I'd check with the guys at http://www.benchrest.com, there is a forum there and they'll know tons about those types of actions.

A friend of mine shoots BAT actions and I can attest to their beauty and accuracy. Unfortunately, they're a bit too champagne for my beer wallet...

My gunsmith recommends Nesika Bay. He does accuracy work for government agencies and a lot of stuff for Powell River Laboratories. Every now and then I get him to condescend to do a huntin' rifle for me on a Brno, CZ, Whitworth, or Winchester.

I have not used a BAT action, but am told they are very good, Hall is well made, don't know about Geske. I have used Nesika actions, one thing I find about Nesika is their consistency. I can measure the distance from the end of the receiver to the top of the bolt today, and it is the same distance as the action I used in 1998. I like Nesika actions.
Must be getting old , there was a time when a person asked for advice on some action, I sent him to main street on saturday night!

I have seen the Geske actions and they are well made and work very well. Since Gary is a 1000yd BR shooter himself he makes actions with this use in mind. There are usually a number of them on the line at Whitefish or Missoula. Regards, Bill.
