Which is a better mount for a No4MkI Enfield

B-Square or S&K.

One of my recent milsurp purchases is a very good shooter with my handloads. Would like to shoot it more but my eyes betray me with open sights.

Thanks
ZM

You have a No4 MKI Enfield not an "SMLE"...nice rifle. The best scope mount of the two you have mentioned is the S&K. You will find the stock rather low for a scope application and may want to use a lace on leather cheek piece. Check eBay for these items as I don't think you will find them retail.

S&K gets the vote.I have one on my No4 Mk1.There is no movement whatsoever. You will need a cheekpiece or you will be too low for proper eye alignment and cheekweld. The only thing with thewse is don't plan on taking it of and on as you will have to take the scope out of the rings and will then need to rezero. This mount is rock solid.

What about the #1MkIII or the #2 (Ishapor 308)?

The No1 and 2A are different. I know the Purist won't want to hear this however on the No1 you can not beat the Parker Hale #24 one piece scope base. A little caution here...the front receiver and charger bridge must be drilled and tapped. My experience with the "no gunsmith" mounts like B Square is they work loose. Cheers, Ron

Thanks guys. S&K it is.
My gun is an AIM $80 beater that likes my basic 303 load very well. Got lucky I guess.
I'll be removing all the primordial gun ooze and putting some kind of finish on it. Black barbecue paint comes highly recommended by several members here.
