The type paint isn't the problem. Getting something to stick is. Get to a auto paint store. The ones that sell to car body shops. ,,,, Not the paint section of Auto Zone. Ask for a spray can of bonding clear, or adhesion promotor for plastics. Its a big can, and usually and runs about 12-15 bucks. This is more or less a very, very agressive clear solvent. It is designed to momentarily soften plastic car bumpers so the shop can repaint it and not have the finish peel off. Smooth sufraces can be sanded, the paint will stick then, but a rough texture will be altered, so the bonding clear should work in the checkering for example. Paint; like tires, weapons, booze, meat, etc, is a get what you pay for industry. If you can, use a good quality line of automotive paint that is mixed with solvents, catalysts, then put on with a spray gun. You'll get 10 times the finish than can be had from any spray can. If you go that route, check back here on what type of finish you're trying to achieve. I may able to help ya get there. | |||
