Mauser 98 Bolt Stop Screw

As near as i can tell with my screw gauge the bolt stop screw on a mauser 98 is 8x32, is that correct?

No. But you can force one in. It's really an m4 x.70 if I remember right.

Yea 8/32 has just a hair of play in it. Now i'm thinking its .75x25. Fits good and tight in my Brownells Metric screw chek'r, dont know why i was thinking American thread! Is this the correct size?
I dont have anyway here of checking if n4x.70 works, and what the hell is .75x25 probbly couldnt find a tap and die. Not needing to replace anything, just trying something out...Expermenting.
