jeffroSKS Problem
My friend ask me this question. Just wondering if any of you have any ideas, that I could use to help him out. Maybe you can help me with my SKS. It is a Chinese SKS and I am having a problem with the
trigger resetting. When I place the magazine in and then fire the first round it ejects the casing and seats another
round, but then you pull the trigger and nothing happens, as if the trigger did not get re-set. With out any magazine
or any rounds in the gun I can cycle the slide manually and it re-sets the trigger every time.
Thanks for you help.

Ask him how it worked before the magazine conversion because SKS's don't have a removable magazine. Sounds like his removable magazine is the problem. Sounds like too that the magazine is only letting the bolt come back far enough to pick up the cartridge. Do you know if the hammer is cocked on the round that nothing happens? Easy to do, take the dust cover off and look. Remember if you retract the bolt all the way to empty the rifle, then you'll never know. You'll have to remove the dust cover with that round chambered and do it very carefully and remove the spring, then try see if the hammer is cocked or not.

Toomany ToolsThe magazine lips may be binding on the bolt, causing enough resistance to prevent the bolt from going all the way back to cock the hammer. The bolt needs to slide over the magazine lips without any binding. Not hard to adjust but critical to functioning. Don't try something stupid like cutting coils of the mainspring (seen that done).

jeffeossoeither its a "paratrooper" model, or someone using aftermarket detachable mags...
if the later, use the factory 10rd and see if that clears it up
if it uses ak mags, its the "paratrooper" if not, its the sks using detachable mags.. which is a NO NO in some jurisdictions, i believe, and could make an otherwise legal gun into an "assualt weapon"
