| Do you know for a fact the finish on the Boyds stock is oil ? I'll bet it's just some type of a spray on varnish or poly. Call them and ask. |

| Im not sure what it is for sure, I will have to call them.
That would be sweet if I could sand and hit it with the crossfire clear |

| Ok sounds good, I called them and the gal I talked to said they use a acid bawed finish. Is there something a person can put on the stock before clearing to really make it pop, or will it be plenty bright with light sanding with some 600 and some clear coat |

| I would sand it smooth before appying any other finish, no finish is better than the base coat, start with imperfections and you will end with imperfections. |

| You should be just fine. Here's a Boyds Stock I did with Sherwinn Williams Gloss Pre-Cat. If the finish is kinda slick hit with 220 until the shiny is gone then Scotch-Brite. |
