Replacement Trigger for a Model 70 Winchester

I recently bought a Mod 70 Coyote and am over the moon with the performance with the exception of the trigger. I bought a Timney for it but was not impressed by the finish and sent it back. I have been offered a Canjar trigger but can't find any information on them. Are they any good?
If not I take it the Jewel unit is the best option. Unfortunately I am in the UK and they cost about $400. Exporting from the US seems to be a problem.

You may be able to order a Jewel trigger from Sinclair International:

I am not sure if they are able to mail directly to the UK.
A decent local gunsmith should be able to tune your present trigger to a crisp 2.5 - 3 pound pull weight. I have all my Winchester trigers tuned, and they are now very nice to use.
Take care,
JCN

Canjar makes very nice triggers. they are all adjustable for pull weight, sear engagement, and overtravel. I don't have a current price list for them but the 1995 price for a M70 was US $131. PM me for contact info if you like, as they do not have a website.

Properly adjusted, the Winchester trigger is by far a better hunting trigger than either of the substitutes you are looking at. A little dust or grease and those others are out of business.

I second LB 404's opinion. It sounds like you need a better gunsmith, not a better trigger.

I Keep posting this every time this question arises, because it's worth repeating. Don't use the Timney, IMHO, it's a dangerous trigger for the model 70. Their other trigger are super, but the m70 trigger changes the angle of the sear pivot, which allows the bolt to be pushed downward, by a bump, carrying the rifle, etc., with the safety on and when the safety is released it will fire. Long story short explaination.

The answer is send that rifle to

Mark is a super guy and a blast to talk to. He is also a wizard of a gunsmith and can make a M70 factory trigger an amazing thing of beauty. If he has to repin it, because M70s sometimes have a lot of lateral slop, it will cost a little more than the Timney, but you will be very happy with it. You will not be sorry you sent him the gun. Mark is also very honest about the amount of time it will take to turn your gun around. Although I don't have any idea of his workload, he turned mine around in a matter of days, not weeks, but I wouldn't expect that to happen all the time. People that do the kind of quality work as Mark tend to be very busy.

I would rather get qualified gunsmith to adjust the original trigger than get a new one.

Since you are in Pommiestan I suggest you contact David Ryan. David can recommend you a smith or maybe get a Jewell trigger for you
