I see in a search of the past that some members purchased action castings as a project. Does anyone have pics. of a completed rifle / project in progress / stories / advice on such a project. I am rather intrigued and am considering an attempt at a action build. Thanks in advance for any info. / advice. --- John303.

John,

There was a guy offering castings of old single-shot designs a number of years ago (Rodney Storie, I think). He quit offering them, but there's a website that still shows them.

There's a whole industry of folks that'll offer you 80% forgings/castings of AR's and 1911's, but I don't think that's what you're after.

For single shots, I think Bailey Bradshaw on the board offers his single-shot action standalone. Steve Earle offers his Wesson #1 action, too. CPA sells the Stevens 44 1/2. Lots of folks offer a version of the High Wall.

Hope this helps.

Steve

John303.
I have the AC castings from their original set.
For 5 years now, every so often I take the box
down from the shelf. Rummage through the parts.
Sand a little on this one, file a bit on that
one and then put it back. There is TONS OF WORK
to finish one of these. You need more ambition
than I seem to have lately.
Following their instructions, it not that hard,
but very time comsuming.
Two friends also bought a kit back then and they
never did anything with theirs. I think that is
the usual course with these.
Good luck if you take a try at it.
