Steve is helping Mrs. Brace sell the blanks. All I did was host the pics for him and I know nothing other than what can be seen in the pics.

Any money generated from the sale of the blanks will greatly help Mrs. Brace. I did not know Larry, but everyone I hav etalked to who did know him said he was a great guy.

Maybe I have him confused with somebody else, but I thought that's where he was from and practicing his work at.

I'm sorry Matt, but I can't remeber where exactly he lived. Larry was an increibly talented guy-knifemaker, gunamker, engraver. Not many of us can wear that many hats!

I had a hunch that it was the same guy......a real shame that we lost such a talent.

My father took quite a liking to him when they met at the guild show many years ago. His work was one of those that could still stand out even amongst some of the most talented of the guild.

My guess is that he is/was as I know that is where Steve Nelson is from.

Just to set the record straight:
I was in Larry Brace's shop dozens of times (in a two car garage on Blackfoot St) in Eugene, OR . Larry was a great craftsmen, both a stocker and a metalsmith and did some of the best checkering I've ever seen, but never used a checkering cradle. I never knew of him engraving anything. He showed me the process of adding a bondo cheekpiece to a pattern stock I presented here, and taught me a lot about custom gunmaking, and checkering.
He was a hellofa guy, high school shop teacher, had a Masters in Education, as I recall, shot more trophy blacktail than anyone else I ever knew, (I once watched as he completely boned out a blacktail in about 30 minutes, and gave me the meat) Took me sporting clays shooting my first time, shot passles of ducks ith an SKB O/U, loved to hunt elk with his pet .375, took up Cape Buffalo hunting and shot many, trophy and culling (same .375).
He and his wife Joann were absolutely devoted to one another, virtually always together. I miss him.

Steve Nelson lives in Corvalis, OR. about 40 miles north of Eugene. Also a great guy, accomplished stocker and metalsmith, in a very great shop next to his house.
