We have a model 58 Remington Sportsman 12 ga. in the shop for repair. Apparently at some point in the past the extractor adjustment bolster was ground down allowing the extractor to pitch further inboard. Perhaps to correct an extraction issue really caused by a rusted chamber. This positioning of the extractor caused the tip to impact the breach at the extractor slot. Eventually chipping out a piece of the chamber rendering the barrel useless. I seem to recall a Rem 870 bbl can be modified by drilling gas holes in the bbl ring. Anyone here that can do that? Our shop policy does not allow it even though we feel capable. The gun is in otherwise great shape considering age. We would refer you to our customer. Thanks, Bob www.rustblue.com | ||
