Hi and thanks,

I have been reading thru posts for a while and I'm considering buying 1999 Barreled action with a brake installed from Montana Rifleman. I figure they will probably take real pride in the complete package.

I am thinking 300 WSM and the twist choices are 8, 10, or 12 twist in 30 cal.

1. What twist would you suggest for long range target and fun shooting? Will be using light and heavy bullets.
Was hoping for 11 twist butttttttttt it's not offered.

2. How are their barrels and brakes?

I've read good and bad, but the prices look pretty good.

I have a 1999 barreled action in a 7mm WSM, with a 10 inch twist. The action is good and the accuracy is more than reasonable. The only complaint I have is that the barrel is very finicky on what bullets it likes. With the right bullet, it is a dream to shoot.

I have a Montana stainless steel barreled action in .358 Win. It was stocked and bedded by Serengeti Stockworks. It always shoots under MOA and I have gotten groups as small as .250 with it. If you go to the Montana Rifle website, you can see one 1/4 inch group I shot with it. It is still getting broken in, and has less than 50 rounds through it.
