Crossbolt jig
I've read on several of the forums here that the B-Square crossbolt jig will not work for CZ 550 Magnum stocks. However, it was never said what specifically prohibited it from working on these stocks. Does anyone know? I just purchased a CZ 550 Magnum and would do the job myself, but without the proper tools I'll have to take it to a smith ... plus, I have a 98 Mauser rebarreled to 458 Blaine that I would use the jig on anyway.
Any comments? Thanks guys.

Here's the B-Square jig from Brownells:

Why wouldn't it work on a CZ-550?..........DJ

I don't use a jig. I made up a center to be chucked and a center with 2 flats on its base. I clamp this one in the vise and lign up the center in the cuck with it. Measure the stock and figure out where you want the centers of the bolt holes to be. THen lign up with the center in the vise and drill. the first time soem one told me to do this I thought it would never work because I could not hold the stock correctly. It is muc heaier to do in practice than it sounds when you read about it. Works with any stock in th eworld. All you are doing is working between centers.

the bsquare jig (when it works) really only does a good job for the front of the mauser and model 70 type and SIZE actions...

A great big cz stock won't work with it...

the smith will need his own jig to do it
