Need HVA rear action screw. Where to find???
Anyone know where I can find a rear action screw for an HVA 4100 rifle? The screw is a different thread pitch and slightly smaller than a standard 98 mauser screw.

Thanks,

Two possibilities:

Contact Jack First Gun Shop in Rapid City, SD. They have more parts than you can imagine. 605-343-8481. It is possible that a Sako action screw might fit. If worse comes to worse, they may have a pattern from which they could make one. But that option could be expensive.

Or, do a post on the GunBoards Sweedish Civilian & Sporting Firearms forum. Here's the address:

I am sure that you will get some good info or ideas from the guys on that forum.

Good luck.

I´m a bit unfamiliar with the model name 4100 but every "non-m98" models from HVA have metric stuff installed. Your screw is 99% a M-6.

Is the front action screw the same size? If so, then you have a pattern, just have to make the length correct for the rear. If the screw is different size, I doubt they would have gone down two sizes from 8mm to 6mm since 6mm is pretty light for the recoil involved. 7mm is not common but also not that rare. Make a wood plug about the same OD at a WAG indicates it will be and turn it with force it into the screw hole using some light grease for lube. That will give you a pattern of the actual screw OD and pitch.

In in the book Bolt Action Rifles there are two sizes listed for the Husqvarna magazine/guard screws, .230x26 (no model listed) and for the model 8000 15/64x26.

Jordan,

At least in the 1600 series rifles, they are the same as Sako Action screw.
