Hello form Scotland~

I am currently working on the stock of my .444 Marlin...... Just about to seal the stock, fill pores etc... Wondering about which oil to finish with ??

I heard talk of Tung oil,? Tru-oil,? Linseed,?

What others can you use ?? Some people seem keen on one oil, seem to hate others !!

Views on oil ????????? Please

Highlan...er Englander (I had to, forgive me),

I am currently using a mix of Tru-oil, and Tung Oil, cut 50% with mineral spirits so it isn't so viscous. So far it is working well. I have sanded to 320 twice and will go to 400 today. I have just two small areas on my stock with the pores still visible.

If I did it over again I would try a waterproof outdoor finish but workk the same as I am now.

Pro Custom and Tru-Oil (both avalaible from Brownells), when applied properly, have given me excellent results.
