Receiver sight mounting screw size, pitch?

Typicaly, what is the thread/pitch of the mounting screws? all my tools such as my screw gauge are packed away deep in boxes after a recent move. I have a jig for drilling and taping Mausers for scopes and I;m hoping that the taps that are with that jig(6/48, if memory serves) are the correct size.

6x48 is the most popular used and use a #31 drill. van
