I've got a new benchrest stock that I need to paint. I'm looking to paint the stock myself and looking for some tips and suggestions. Here is what I'm thinking so far.

Sand with a fine grit sandpaper to smooth it up, then some primer. I'm looking for suggestions on what grit to use, etc. How many coats of primer and paint? Clear coat? Like I said, I know I could pay someone to do it, but I want to take pride in doing it myself, just need a little advice. I'm also open to color suggestions for a blued action and stainless barrel combo.
